A Stormy Welcome

A Stormy Welcome
Stormy morning in Lofoten, Norway with a surprisingly calm morning light shining on the village.

I landed in Lofoten last night and immediately got humbled by a proper blizzard—wind, snow, chaos… the kind of conditions where your “perfect plan” lasts about 12 seconds.

This morning, somehow, a clean slice of sunrise light showed up anyway.

That’s the learning curve I keep coming back to: photography isn’t about controlling the scene. It’s about doing the basics well—scouting, packing smart, keeping batteries warm, being ready—then accepting that nature doesn’t care… and staying present enough to catch the miracle when it happens.

Some days it’s cinematic light. Some days it’s your lens cap in the mud. Either way, you learn. Wishing everyone a strong Year of the Horse—steady progress, bold steps forward, and the kind of unexpected light that makes all the wind and snow worth it.
